Counting system for Nuclear Medicine,
utilized for “in vivo” and “in vitro” diagnoses. |
The activities developed by IEN in
the instrumentation field represent an expressive contribution to
the Brazilian nuclear sector. In the past 30 years, tens of spectrometry,
radioprotection, nuclear medicine and research reactor equipment
prototypes have been developed. At present, the development of new
equipment targets the transference of technology to the private
sector. In addition, demands for the development of specific systems
are met, such as the ones manufactured for Angra I Nuclear Center
and for the Brazil-Argentine Agency for Accounting and Control of
Nuclear Materials.
In 1985, IEN developed the nuclear
instrumentation for its research reactor, the Argonauta. With this
acquired experience, the instrumentation for two other reactors
– the IPEN/MB-01 reactor of the Institute for Energy and Nuclear
Research (IPEN/CNEN), in 1988, and the IPR1 reactor of the Nuclear
Technology Development Center (CDTN/CNEN), in 1996 – was also developed
and manufactured.
Since 1997, all the nuclear instrumentation
development and production have been carried out according to the
NBR ISO 9001 norm. Electronic and nuclear equipment repair and professional
qualification in nuclear instrumentation maintenance, in the scope
of the International Atomic Energy Agency cooperative programs for
Latin America, complement these activities.
