Due to its interdisciplinarity, AAIL encloses several application areas, which can be listed as follows:

• Industrial plants maintenance and operation;
• System safety;
• Neutronic and thermal-hydraulic projects;
• Environment (waste treatment, etc)
• Medical Physics;
• Petrochemistry Industry;
• Support to decision making in general.

Besides applied technological research, AAIL shall offer free Introductory courses on AI for the interested IEN community, besides specialized training in the used techniques for external and internal clients.

Possible big clients and/or partners are Eletronuclear, Petrobrás and Furnas, among other state companies.

In addition to the collaboration with COPPE, collaboration between IEN and foreign universities and institutes such as the Georgia Tech Institute (USA) and SCK-CEN (Belgium) will happen naturally, for we already work with researchers (or ex-researchers) from these institutions.
