form of radiopharmaceutical sodium iodate, is supplied in a clean
and non-injectable water solution, suitable for oral administration.
It is used to study thyroid gland function.
Technical characteristics:
Chemical form: sodium iodate (NaI)
– solution: clean, sterile, apyrogenic, oral administration pH:
12 to 13 Radioactive concentration: 740 to 1850 MBq/ml Radiochemistry
purity: > 98% Radionuclidic purity: > 99% Calibration: to be used
on Tuesdays or Thursdays at 8. Distribution: ready for transportation
at 12 o’clock on Mondays and Wednesdays Storage: room temperature
Application:
In medicine, to diagnose thyroid
diseases. With the production of iodine 123 – ultrapure, IEN follows
a worldwide trend to make short half-life radioisotopes available
for exams and therapy. Due to its half-life of only 13.2 hours,
iodine-123 substitutes iodine-131 (8 days of half-life) with advantage,
making the exams less aggressive to the patient.
