Description:
The radiopharmaceutical Meta-iodobenzylguanidine,
labelled with iodine-123, is supplied in an isotonic, limpid, injectable
solution. It is used to diagnose neuroblastomas and heart diseases.
Technical characteristics:
Chemical form: Meta-iodobenzylguanidine
(MIBG) Solution: limpid, sterile, apyrogenic, injectable pH: 7 (seven)
Radiochemistry purity: > 97% Radionuclidic purity: > 99% Calibration:
for use on Wednesdays at 8h Distribution: ready for transportation
as of 12h on Tuesdays Storage: 8°C
Application:
Due to a half-life of only 13.2 hours,
iodine-123 (MIBG) allows the diagnosis of heart diseases and tumors.
However, iodine-131 (MIBG), due to a longer half-live (eight days)
is more suitable to the treatment of tumors with higher doses.
With the production of iodine-123
ultrapure, IEN follows a worldwide trend to make short half-life
radioisotopes available for exams and therapy. Due to its half-life
of only 13.2 hours, iodine-123 substitutes iodine-131 (8 days of
half-life) with advantage, making the exams less aggressive to the
patient.
